Hello! I'm Aisen Caro Chacin, my curiosity led me to research the intersecting fields of art, science, and technology driven by conceptual forms of inquiry and design thinking resulting in functional prototypes. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas materialize. My inbox is always open.. so say "Hello!".

CHI PLAY

CHI PLAY is a new international and interdisciplinary conference (by ACM SIGCHI) for researchers and professionals across all areas of play, games and human-computer interaction (HCI), we call it: “player-computer interaction”.

The goal of the conference is to highlight and foster discussion of current high quality research in games and HCI as foundations for the future of digital play. To this end, the conference will feature streams that blend academic research and games with research papers, interactive demos, and industry case studies.

CHI PLAY grew out of the increasing work around games and play emerging from the ACM annual conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) over the last few years. It has become apparent that there is a need for a dedicated conference incorporating individual conferences such as Fun and Games, Future Play and Gamification. CHI PLAY is sponsored by ACM SIGCHI. For general questions about the conference, please do not hesitate to contact us.

CHI PLAY 2015 will be held in London, UK.

Submissions

As a SIGCHI-sponsored conference, CHI PLAY will consider submissions related to games and play. We welcome submissions from all topics in interactive game research that are relevant to player-computer interaction, including but not limited to the following:

  • Game Interaction
  • Novel Game Control
  • Novel Implementation Techniques that affect Player Experience
  • Evaluation of Feedback and Display Technologies for Games
  • Neurogaming
  • Gamification
  • Persuasive Games
  • Games for Health, Learning and Change
  • Exertion Games
  • Player Experience
  • Virtual and Augmented Reality Games
  • Games User Research
  • Game Evaluation Methods
  • Psychology of Players and Games
  • Player Typologies
  • Accessible and Inclusive Game Design
  • Novel Game Mechanics Impacting Player Experience
  • Casual Game Design Studies
  • Social Game Experiences
  • Serious Games
  • Tools for Game Creation
  • Affective Gaming
  • Developer Experiences and Studies of Developers
  • Industry Case Studies

Although we are interested in including papers on the effects of various technologies, software, or algorithms on player or developer experience, technical contributions without clear indications of the impact on players or developers are not within the scope of CHI PLAY.

ACM SUI

Spatial User Interaction

The ACM Symposium on Spatial User Interaction (SUI) will be the second international symposium focused on the user interface challenges that appear when users interact in the space where the flat, two-dimensional, digital world meets the volumetric, physical, three-dimensional (3D) space we live in. This considers both spatial input and output, with an emphasis on the issues around interaction between humans and systems. It provides a unique opportunity for industrial and academic researchers to exchange about the state-of-the-art spatial and 3D interaction research! Last year, ACM SUI 2013 was successfully held in Los Angeles, co-located with ACM SIGGRAPH.

In 2014, the symposium will last for two days (Oct 4-5), and will be co-located with the ACM UIST 2014 conference in Honolulu on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. The goal of the symposium is to provide an intensive exchange between industrial and academic researchers working in the area of spatial user interaction and to foster discussions among participants. All areas of spatial UI research will be presented, including:

  • Spatial interaction techniques
  • Spatial user interface metaphors
  • Spatial input devices and technology
  • Interaction on spatial, stereoscopic, and 3D displays
  • Evaluation methods for spatial user interaction
  • Collaborative interaction in 3D space
  • Design and user experience (UX) for spatial user interaction
  • Applications of human spatial perception to interaction
  • Adaptive and perceptual-inspired spatial user interaction
  • Applications of spatial UIs, such as games, entertainment, CAD, education.
  • Gesture-based spatial interaction
  • Tangible spatial user interaction
  • Multi-touch technologies for spatial user interaction
  • Desktop interfaces for spatial interaction
  • Multisensory and other novel forms of spatial user interaction

Researchers can participate in a number of ways, including submitting full technical papers, short papers, posters and demos.

Submission types:

=========================

We are delighted to announce the 21st International Symposium on Electronic Art will be held August 14-18, 2015, in Vancouver, Canada. The ISEA2015 symposium welcomes submissions for three broad types of activities:

1 – An exciting art program that will run throughout the duration of the symposium. We welcome submission of artworks, installations and performances alike. Please see our call for artworks to find out how you can be part of it: http://isea2015.org/call-for-proposals/call-for-artworks/

2 – A set of workshops and tutorials will occur on Friday the 14th, and Saturday the 15th of August 2015. See the call for workshops and tutorials for more details on how to propose your own workshop or tutorial:http://isea2015.org/call-for-proposals/workshops-tutorials/

3 – The academic symposium will occur from Sunday the 16th to Tuesday the 18th of August 2015. It includes the following activities for which we solicit submissions:

  * Long Paper with Oral Presentation

  * Research Notes with Oral Presentation

  * Short Paper with Demonstration or Poster Presentation

  * Round Tables and Square Panels

  * Institutional Presentations

ISEA2015 submissions in the Long paper, Research notes, and Short paper categories need to be the full length version of the paper (not only the abstract). Each submission will be thoroughly reviewed by members from our International Program Committee. Accepted submission will be published in the ISEA2015 Proceedings (with an ISBN/ISSN). These proceedings will be available online prior to the symposium.

For more details on how to contribute in any of the above categories, see our call for papers and panels here:http://isea2015.org/call-for-proposals/papers-posters-and-panels/

Submissions are to be made through our ISEA2015 EasyChair portal: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=isea2015

Experimental Music & Digital Media @ LSU

Louisiana State University and the city of Baton Rouge are excited to present the 15th edition of NIME. The LSU School of Music and Center for Computation & Technology will host the 2015 NIME conference, sharing all that we have to offer to the NIME community to creatively explore how music is made. The conference will bridge a bit of past and future, with opportunities to engage in the fantastic musical history of Louisiana, as well as make use of the newly opened facilities at the LSU Digital Media Center including our 92-speaker immersive sound theatre. We are also excited to have the LSU Digital Art program involved in an expansion of the sonic art installations category for extended exhibition at the Shaw Center for the Arts, LSU Museum of Art and Glassell Gallery.

BioArt Exhibition Berlin Non-Human Intelligence

In response to recent cultural and scientific developments Art Laboratory Berlin is initiating an open call for art works, texts and cooperative works with artists, scholars and scientists on the general theme of non-human subjectivities.

Possible topics could include

  • Perspectives under threat – non-human viewpoints during the great species die off.
  • Bacterial viewpoints – how microbes communicate, interact and experience the world.
  • Non-human perspectives – intelligence and agency in animals, plants, bacteria.
  • Re-definition of intelligence, agency and sentience in ways that are not anthropomorphic.
  • What do some of these perspectives make of Homo sapiens? e.g.- 90% of the cells in our body do not have human DNA -we are a mere host, a topography, for billions of bacteria and fungi.
  • How about agency (and even intelligence) beyond life – virii or crystals for instance.
  • Are complex data systems, algorithms, artificial intelligence beginning to have points of view, and forms of agency that are beyond human comprehension?

Art Laboratory Berlin is seeking submissions and proposals predominantly for exhibitions, performances and workshops, but is also interested in cooperation with scholars and scientists for the production of a series of lectures, texts and a symposium

The deadline for entries is 15 December, 2014.
Chosen proposals will form part of our 2016-17 program
